Separating an explosion – extinguishing barrier (HRD) ANTIDET Barrier


VST Engineering uses an ANTIDET Barrier personal protective system to safeguard the facility by separating a dust explosion.


What does the ANTIDET Barrier system do?

The ANTIDET Barrier is an extinguishing barrier for separating the explosion and serves to extinguish an explosion flame that spreads through pipelines from one facility into another, by actively interfering with the burning process (extinguishing).
The facility itself is often safeguarded by explosion venting or by an explosion suppression system.


What are the components of the system?

The extinguishing barrier consists of a control unit, at least one pressure and/or optical explosion detector, and at least one operating element.


What is the function of the system?

The origination of an explosion is accompanied by an increase in pressure and by flame. Based on the detector type, these accompanying explosion events are detected either within a protected facility (pressure) or in pipelines (flame) and transmitted to the control unit. The control unit evaluates this condition as a spread of an explosion and activates the respective operating element or elements installed in a corresponding distance on the pipeline. Opening the operating element releases extinguishing media (power) into the pipeline and extinguishes (suppresses) the explosion flame.
